Lauren Ferrone was born and raised on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. A food enthusiast from the very beginning, Lauren discovered a love in the kitchen before she could see over the counter. She graduated from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and holds a BA in Cognitive Science and Studio Art. After graduating from college she headed to Northern California to pursue a career in education. Living and working in one of the world´s foremost culinary meccas, Lauren quickly rediscovered her deep passion for great food. Growing weary of the office environment after only a couple years and sparked with an entrepreneurial spirit, she resolved to follow her creative dream and enrolled in a baking and pastry arts program at the Culinary Institute of America Greystone in St. Helena, California. Moving back to the East Coast after graduation, Lauren was eager to get to know a familiar place again- to go clamming in July and apple picking in October- and to begin to lay the foundation of what would officially become Summerhouse Baking in February, 2007.
